Sanguine Star is 100% human made. No generative AI is, or ever will be, used at any stage. The creative process is a form of alchemy – there are no shortcuts. The work itself is the transformative part.

About the Comic

Erebus was the Herald of the Sanguine Star. A powerful Sorcerer and demon-prince, he once carved a path of bloody corruption across the world. His defeat came at great cost. His immortal remains were placed in a warded sarcophagus under the eternal vigil of the Order of the Black Sun.

Until tonight. 

Anaka is a warrior mystic sworn to protect the nomadic merchants of her clan as they make their perilous journey through the Ghostlands. Embarking on her final trial before becoming a fully fledged Sister, she delves into a forgotten temple in search of an artefact of power. But when the demon-prince Erebus escapes from imprisonment, Anaka must find a way to prevent the bloodthirsty Sorcerer from regaining his full power, or he will once again bring terror to the world.

About the Creator

Daniel J Borodin has been a storyteller since he first picked up a crayon. From a young age he was drawn to the fantastical worlds of science fiction, horror, and fantasy – throughout his school years he would find himself in trouble for using school resources to create and distribute his own horror fantasy comics. He repeatedly missed the bus while absorbed in the worlds of French graphic novels (Asterix and Tintin in particular) he had found in the school library.

A teenager in the 90s, he watched the incredible boom of speculative sci-fi/fantasy in cinema and japanese animation. The best of these works combined kinetic action and visuals with occult philosophy and detailed worldbuilding, and asked difficult questions about what it means to be human (often without positing any answers).

After a decade long career in film and television came to an end during COVID, Daniel started building the setting and exploring the themes that would become the world of Tyria. Drawing from influences such as Warhammer, Dark Sun, Conan, Blame!, and webcomic Kill Six Billion Demons, his childhood love of sequential art and dark fantasy has finally come full circle with Sanguine Star.
